How Robots are Helping Detroit Go Green: The Ottobot Story

Walk the talk on sustainability! At Ottonomy, we’re thrilled to be making a real difference in Detroit by tackling food waste, a major contributor to global emissions. Our autonomous electric #ottobots are automating food waste pickup and composting, leading to a nearly 40% reduction in carbon emissions for small-distance pickup and deliveries.

This exciting initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support and collaboration of several key partners:

Justin Johnson, Michigan Chief Mobility Officer; Tim Slusser, Chief of Mobility Innovation, City of Detroit with Hannah Raniery, Diego Perez from Orange Sparkle Ball and Ricky Blanding from Scrap Soils among others.

Ottobots: A Game-Changer

Our autonomous electric Ottobots offer a groundbreaking approach to food waste management. By automating the process of food waste pickups for composting, we are addressing several key challenges:

  • Reducing Carbon Emissions: Ottobots significantly reduce carbon emissions associated with small-distance pickups, contributing to a cleaner environment.
  • Improving Efficiency & Data Collection: Our autonomous vehicles operate with safety while gathering valuable data on waste generation patterns, informing waste management strategies
  • Promoting Sustainability: By diverting food waste from landfills and transforming it into compost, we are promoting a circular economy.

Food waste is a significant environmental concern, accounting for roughly 8% of global emissions. By automating food waste pickup and composting, Ottobots address this challenge head-on. This innovative solution not only reduces carbon emissions but also promotes a circular economy by transforming food scraps into valuable compost.

Join the Movement!

We are excited about the positive impact Ottobots are having in Detroit, and we believe this is just the beginning. We’re committed to expanding our reach and scaling this solution to make a lasting impact on the environment.

#Sustainability starts with action. Let’s work together to build a greener future!
