Ottobot 2.0 is accessible, scalable, and modular for last-mile deliveries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ottonomy Inc. today said it has closed its $3.3 million\u00a0seed funding round and announced Ottobot 2.0, the latest version of its autonomous delivery robot. The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company said it plans to scale up its deployments of Ottobot in airports, retail stores, and restaurants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe team and I have been deeply vested into autonomous driving for more than a decade,\u201d stated Ritukar Vijay, co-founder and CEO of Ottonomy.IO. \u201cWe believe fully autonomous delivery robots are not only a precursor to\u00a0autonomous vehicle<\/a>\u00a0proliferation, but are [also] solving today\u2019s biggest challenges like\u00a0the labor shortage, enabling staff to do more with less.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIntroducing Ottobot 2.0, we are bringing best-in-class maneuverability, accessibility, and modularity to our fully autonomous robots, which sets us ahead of our competition,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Vijay,\u00a0Pradyot Korupolu, Ashish Gupta, and Hardik Sharma founded Ottonomy in 2020. The\u00a0company<\/a>\u00a0said its\u00a0primary focus is on helping organizations in different industries to automate indoor and outdoor contactless deliveries.<\/p>\n

The \u201cdeep tech\u201d startup won the Business Intelligence Group’s Sustainability Product of the Year Award for 2021. Ottonomy also\u00a0showed<\/a>\u00a0its robotics-as-a-service (RaaS<\/a>) offerings at AUVSI Xponential in April 2022.<\/p>\n

Ottonomy designs Ottobot 2.0 to be modular<\/h3>\n

Earlier this year, Ottonomy\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0that its Ottobots were the world’s first autonomous\u00a0mobile robots<\/a>\u00a0to deliver food, beverages, and travel retail items at airports. The\u00a0company<\/a>\u00a0said it received positive responses from customers at Cincinnati International Airport (CVG<\/a>), and it began partnerships with several airports across the U.S. and Europe.<\/p>\n

In addition to expanding its curbside and\u00a0last-mile delivery<\/a>\u00a0technologies, Ottonomy is involved with Fortune 500 corporations in the\u00a0retail<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0restaurant<\/a>\u00a0industry across North America for wide adoption.<\/p>\n

The company said it has successfully completed pilots at the Newlab 5G Studio in New York using Verizon’s\u00a05G<\/a>\u00a0networks. Ottonomy added that the leap in capabilities will enable it to deploy large\u00a0fleets<\/a>\u00a0and increase its footprint across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Ottobot 2.0 evolved from early pilots to include fully customizable modular cabins, suitable for\u00a0grocery<\/a>\u00a0deliveries,\u00a0food and beverages<\/a>, and\u00a0e-commerce<\/a>\u00a0packages. They can be insulated to maintain hot or cold temperatures and configured with multiple compartments.<\/p>\n

Ottonomy also\u00a0designed<\/a>\u00a0the robot to be accessible by adults, children, the elderly, and people with special abilities or wheelchairs. It also includes contactless\u00a0human-robot interaction<\/a>\u00a0for security and no-touch deliveries, unlike traditional personal identification code (PIN) access.<\/p>\n

The Contextual Navigation Engine lets Ottobot 2.0\u00a0navigate<\/a>\u00a0fully autonomously in unpredictable environments both indoors or outdoors, said the company. It fuses data from 3D\u00a0lidar<\/a>\u00a0sensors, multiple\u00a0cameras<\/a>, and three layers of safety\u00a0sensors<\/a>\u00a0to ensure maximum operational uptime, daytime and nighttime operations, and fast charging, claimed Ottonomy.<\/p>\n

In addition, the robot’s four-wheel drive give it directional mobility,\u00a0including four-wheel drive \u201ccrab mode.\u201d This allows Ottobot 2.0 to maneuver in tight spaces and make zero-radius turns by moving sideways, Ottonomy said.<\/p>\n
